Shareyna James is a lecturer in the Graduate Program at Rutgers University-New Brunswick, and in previous semesters has taught courses in the Undergraduate Writing Program of the Department of English. Her teaching philosophy is centered on helping students to develop their skills in critical thinking, effective communication and academic writing. Previously, Shareyna taught Business English courses for graduate students in the field of Mathematical Finance. Concurrent with her work at the Graduate Program, Shareyna works for a professional organization where she focuses on advancing educational and technical opportunities within the fields of engineering sciences, research, and technology. In this role, she supports over 100,000 students globally by developing and supporting student-related initiatives and volunteer committees. She received a Master of Business Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management and a Bachelor of Arts in English, with a focus on Writing and African, African American and Caribbean studies from The William Paterson University of New Jersey.
Beyond the classroom, Shareyna is committed to creating professional networks to empower and support women of color through programs focused on mentorship, leadership, community engagement and scholarship. As the owner of Shareyna Nicole Consulting, LLC, she focuses on developing services for professionals looking to enhance personal and professional skills. Shareyna has been nominated for the Leader in Mentorship Award hosted by The BOSS Network and presented by Prudential. This prestigious nomination highlighted influential women of color who inspired other women by sharing their strategies and journey to success.
